The energy sector is a complex meshwork of companies that mine resources, convert energy into a usable form and supply customers with it – 365 days a year, around the clock, and preferably without interruption.
No matter whether the energy comes out of a socket as 230 volt electricity, flows into industrial plants as process heat or is funnelled into automobile tanks as fuel, it goes through a long value-added chain beforehand: raw material suppliers and power station builders, power producers and network operators, wholesalers and utilities work hand in hand to ensure that consumers always have at their disposal the energy they need – both today and tomorrow. After all, the climate goals and the progressive electrification of our daily lives pose a challenge to the energy sector.
